Fairhope to Open New Hydro-Courts & Rename Tennis Facility for Council Member Mike Ford
Fairhope’s tennis complex at Stimpson Field will soon have a new name: The Mike Ford Tennis Center at Fairhope Stimpson Park. Vann Saltz, chairman of the City’s Recreation Board, said the name honors Ford’s longtime service to the City as a council member and lifelong supporter of recreation and sports.

The City of Fairhope Municipal Pool will offer a lifeguard certification class beginning on Monday, August 29. Additional classes will be held on August 31st and September 6th.

The City of Fairhope will offer a beginner adult tennis clinic September 1 through October 7, 2016. Come learn basic technique and strategy. The six week session cost is $90.00 which includes a free tennis racket and USTA Membership.

Fairhope Museum of History Hosting 8th Annual Elderberry Festival
The Fairhope Museum of History will celebrate the eighth annual “Elderberry Festival” on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Festivities begin at 10:00am with demonstrations, tastings, a pie-eating contest, and more throughout the day. Musical entertainment will be provided by Kracker Dan from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fairhope Historic Sites Bus Tours Return July 16th
Bus tours of Fairhope’s historic sites, led by Fairhope Museum of History director Donnie Barrett, will take place on Saturday, July 16, with tours planned for 9 a.m., 11a.m., 1p.m., and 3p.m. The tours are conducted on a comfortable and cool motor coach.

FAIRHOPE TO TEST WEATHER SIREN ON TUESDAY, JUNE 14
The City of Fairhope will test its weather siren next Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. The siren is located in downtown Fairhope near the Welcome Center and should be audible up to a half a mile.

KIWANIS CLUB OF FAIRHOPE AND THE EASTERN SHORE HELPS IMPROVE TODDLER PARK
The Kiwanis Club of Fairhope and the Eastern Shore recently added an Expression Swing to the toddler park on Fels Avenue in Fairhope. The Expression Swing is designed to let parent and child swing in tandem while facing each other so the parent can experience the joy on their child’s face.

BIKE RACK DONATION HOPES TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO RIDE BIKES TO SCHOOL
In addition to the beginning of summer, Fairhope Elementary School has a lot to celebrate. The newest addition to the school campus is a specially designed bike rack, created by Joe Strange, in hopes of encouraging students to ride their bikes to school. The project was funded by the Fairhope Cycling Project, Hargrove Foundation, Point Clear Rotary and Pro Cycle & Triathlon.

CITY OF FAIRHOPE TO HOST COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE
The City of Fairhope will host a Community Blood Drive on Friday, June 24 from 7 am to 3 pm at the Public Utilities Warehouse. The Fairhope Public Utilities Warehouse is located at 555 South Section Street. All donors will receive a hotdog, snack, and a drink.

Art on a Limb!
Art on a Limb is a community celebration of the downtown Fairhope trees. Teams from community organizations (schools, civic organizations, churches, friends, etc.) will each decorate a tree trunk in colorful yarn or other fabric, known as yarn bombing! A tree must be sponsored by a merchant, business, or individual. Funds raised by sponsorships will support the Eastern Shore Art Center’s community outreach efforts.

CITY OF FAIRHOPE & BALDWIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO DISTRIBUTE LARVICIDE TABLETS IN FAIRHOPE TO COMBAT MOSQUITOES
On Tuesday, June 14th, the City of Fairhope will hold a larvicide tablet (Larvicides are used in breeding sites (water) to kill larvae before they emerge as adults) distribution in conjunction with the Baldwin County Health Department to combat mosquitoes in our area.
