  • Earth Day Mobile Bay

    Earth Day Mobile Bay returns for its twenty-seventh year with an all-day event at the Fairhope Pier Park on Saturday, April 23. Nearly six years after the BP Oil disaster, “Gulf restoration” is still the focus of Earth Day Mobile Bay, according to Gary Gover, Earth Day organizer. “There are many ways that we can protect the Gulf on a large scale, but also on much smaller scales. One simple thing that anyone can do is to help keep harmful chemicals from fertilizer or run-off from oil or gas in your driveway out of the storm drains. By doing that, you help improve the overall quality of our rivers, Mobile Bay, and ultimately the gulf.”

    Scale Back Alabama (SBA) is a free statewide weight-loss program designed to encourage Alabamians to get healthy and to have fun while doing it. Since the first competition, Alabamians have lost more than one million pounds! Scale Back Alabama is designed to address the state’s challenge with obesity. Scale Back Alabama is free, lasts 10 weeks and is open to teams of four from families, municipalities, businesses, clubs, or neighborhood groups.
