The City of Fairhope will kick off the holiday season with their annual Fairhope Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 17. Festivities begin at 5:30 and the lights come on at 6 p.m. sharp! The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be emceed by the voice of the WABF, Lori Dubose. Entertainment includes the Fairhope High School band, the Fairhope Middle School band, Center Stage Choir, and the Eastern Shore Choral Society. Mrs. Claus will be passing out candy canes and letting children write a wish list to Santa for her to take back to the North Pole.

The City of Fairhope and the Downtown Fairhope Business Association is showing its support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and have teamed up and are "Painting the Town Pink" this October.

The City of Fairhope will begin routine flushing of its water distribution system beginning Monday, October 3 and continuing through December.

Fairhope’s tennis complex at Stimpson Field will soon have a new name: The Mike Ford Tennis Center at Fairhope Stimpson Park. Vann Saltz, chairman of the City’s Recreation Board, said the name honors Ford’s longtime service to the City as a council member and lifelong supporter of recreation and sports.

The City of Fairhope is now accepting nominations for 2016 Veteran of the Year. The Veteran of the Year award recognizes a veteran who has not only served his/her country but has used the leadership skills and abilities learned in service to the nation to better the community through selfless volunteerism.

In August of 2013, the City of Fairhope began the process to become an Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE). The ACE program uses a comprehensive, three-phase approach to assist participating communities in planning and preparing for a more vibrant future.
