Comedy Legends “The Second City” to Entertain at Phantasy of the Arts

Chicago’s legendary comedy theater, “The Second City: Improv All Stars,” an irresistible hour of improvised comedy, returns to the Fairhope Civic Center Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 7 p.m. The show will headline Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation’s (FEEF) Phantasy of the Arts 2015.

Fresh, fast and always spectacularly funny, The Second City is celebrating 55 years of producing cutting-edge satirical revues and has launched the careers of legends like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more. Phantasy organizers say The Second City comedians will tickle funny bones with their talent, skill and wit — all without the aid of scripts or sets.

It has been more than seven years since The Second City last appeared in the Mobile Bay area for the annual FEEF event. Phantasy of the Arts co-chairs Lisa Trotter and Heather Middleton promise an all-new show in celebration of FEEF’s upcoming 20th anniversary.

“Our plan for the event is to create an urban setting where guests can experience a big city feel with a fun night of top-name talent, art, food, and music,” said Trotter. “We invite everyone to join us in supporting public education in Fairhope. Who knows, along the way, maybe we’ll see the next John Belushi or Martin Short?”

In addition to Chicago’s The Second City, recently featured entertainment at Phantasy has included the popular Alabama band Saint Paul and the Broken Bones and Lightwire Theatre, which gained national acclaim on America’s Got Talent.

Following The Second City, the party will continue with live music and food truck fare from Wind Creek Hospitality’s “Good to Go” mobile kitchen.

Since its beginning, Phantasy of the Arts has raised more than $600,000 for public education in Fairhope. Most recently, proceeds from the fundraiser have allowed Fairhope Elementary students access to expanded art and music lessons, provided hands-on science labs for Fairhope Intermediate and J. Larry Newton students, and supported piano lab, theatre, guitar and chorus at Fairhope High and Fairhope Middle Schools.

“This fundraiser allows us to truly provide a broad base of enrichment opportunities in our schools, touching more students than ever before,” explained Middleton. “We’ve heard from parents, teachers, and supporters about the importance of continuing to foster quality programs supporting both the arts and academics.”

Sponsorships for Phantasy of the Arts 2015 are available with an exclusive pre-party gathering at 5:30 p.m. for individuals and corporations donating $1,000 or more. Advanced individual tickets are $100. To purchase a sponsorship, tickets, or for more information visit www.feefonline.org, call 251-990-FEEF, or email info@feefonline.org
