The Fairhope Museum of History continues their celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Alabama becoming a territory and then a state. The First event in January was the construction of a ten foot wide Wattle and Daub Indian house which has become an attraction at the Museum.
The next event on April 29 at 2:00 will again feature the “First Alabamians” with a hands on instruction to making coil-style Indian pottery using local clay. Also demonstrated will be an actual firing of pots in the Native American style. Participants will also get the materials for making an arrow with a two inch flint arrowhead and learn to throw it using an atlatl.
Visitors who want to watch or participate need to arrive at the Fairhope Museum by 2:00 and will enjoy the class on Native American crafts. For Information call the Museum director, Donnie Barrett at 251-929-1471.
