38th Annual Spring Fever Chase

  • Date: 03/19/2016
  • Location: Downtown Fairhope

Another Arts & Crafts weekend tradition, the 38th annual Spring Fever Chase takes place on Saturday morning, March 19. The 10K run and two-mile Fun Run/Walk start on north Bayview at Fairhope Avenue and wind through downtown and along Mobile Bay. The 10K race course is certified with USA Track and Field, the national governing body for the sport.

“Last year, we had more than 2,400 participants, and we hope for another big year,” said Jill Everson, Manager of Fitness and Cardiac Rehab at Fairhope’s Thomas Hospital, which has hosted the race since 1979 in support of Baldwin County schools.

“All the proceeds go back to the schools as donations and grants,” Everson said. “Every school with at least 25 students registered gets $2 back for each student who participates. Last year we also gave out more than $5,000 in grants to schools for particular projects. We love our schools and we get great participation from every school in the area.”

For the 10k race, participants receive a race T-shirt featuring original artwork by a local artist and the first place winner in each category receives a signed print by the artist, with top finishers receiving a signed print and other awards.

Race applications for the 10k race will be available in January at Wells Fargo and at the Thomas Hospital Fitness Center. Participants may pre-register online or download and print applications at https://springfeverchase.racesonline.com/home. Day-of-race registration will begin at 6:30am at registration tables located at the intersection of Bayview Street and Fairhope Avenue, near the starting line.
