22nd Annual Weeks Bay Native Plant Sale

The 22nd Annual Native Plant Sale at Weeks Bay Reserve will be held Friday through Sunday, October 10-12, from 9 am to 4 pm. The sale will be located at Safe Harbor, directly across from the Weeks Bay Reserve Visitor Center, 11300 U.S. Highway 98, Fairhope, AL.

The sale will offer native trees, shrubs, and perennials, including some rare and hard-to-find species. Experts, including several growers and the Baldwin County Master Gardeners, will be on hand to help with selections and to answer questions.

Maureen Nation, Weeks Bay’s Coordinator of Volunteers, says, “Native plants are not invasive, and they support and attract our native fauna, such as butterflies and hummingbirds. Natives are also adapted to our area, and they require less intensive care in the landscape.” She goes on to say, “When we purchase native plants for our gardens and landscapes, we encourage growers to cultivate natives, some of which are very rare in the wild.”

Proceeds from the plant sale benefit environmental activities at Weeks Bay Reserve. For more information, call the Reserve at 251-928-9792.
