Ever wonder where your recyclable materials go once the City of Fairhope truck picks them up at your house? Find out on Thursday, November 15, America Recycles Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, the City’s crews and volunteers will staff a booth at the City Recycling Building at 451 Pecan Drive to answer your questions about recycling: what can be recycled and what can’t; where the various items go and what happens to them; how you can recycle more of what might now be going into your trash; and why recycling is important to everyone.
That day the City will also accept all electronics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have a commercial shredder for free use. “This is a great opportunity for you to safely get rid of old computers, TVs, and other electronics—and keep them out of our landfills—and to clean out old files and get rid of material that needs to be shredded but is too much for home shredders,” said Paige Crawford, Special Events Coordinator.
