4th Annual Holiday Movie in the Streets

  • Date: 11/23/2013 6:30 PM
  • Location: On Fairhope Avenue

In celebration of the upcoming holiday season, the Downtown Fairhope Business Association will be hosting the 4th Annual “Movie in the Street: On Fairhope Avenue” near the intersection of Section Street and Fairhope Avenue on November 23.

"The Downtown Fairhope Business Association (DFBA) is excited to be sponsoring “Movie in the Street: On Fairhope Avenue ” again this year as a way to say thank you to the local community for shopping local and supporting the community where they live," said DFBA President Stephanie Reeves, owner of The Cat’s Meow. "Having a movie in the middle of Fairhope Avenue is a great way for the community to come together and kick off the holiday season with a fun family event."

“Movie in the Street: On Fairhope Avenue” will highlight a new addition this year, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," which will be shown prior to the feature film. The Grinch movie also ties in with Fairhope’s “25 Days of Grinchmas,” a new holiday initiative whereby downtown merchants will offer various “Grinch” activities throughout the holiday season. Events include a “Make Your Own Grinch” art project at the Eastern Shore Art Center on December 7, a “Meet the Grinch” opportunity sponsored by Page and Palette on December 10, and a book reading at the Fairhope Public Library on December 21.

Those who plan to attend can bring lawn chairs and blankets from home. Children are invited to wear their holiday pajamas. “Movie in the Street: On Fairhope Avenue” is a family friendly event, no alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Refreshments will be available and admission is free. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by "The Polar Express.”
